Yahtzee reviews the “2nd most mainstream Xbox 360 game” Gears 2. He gives it a much more pleasant review that the most mainstream (*cough* HALO *cough*)

When I first read this story I was speechless. I tried my hand with Eve Online a year or so ago with a trial account and knew that the game was deep, but not this deep. It seems that players got so into the game that there are a few player run super banks…as in players didn’t like the banking system in game so organized their own banking corporations which other players trust their money to. I just have to say wow…if you have enough time to dedicate to running a fake bank on an MMO that manages fake money you need to rethink your life.
It seems that someone involved in the administration of Dynasty Banking, a bank that controls billions of ISK (the money in the game), has made off with a pretty hefty sum of money amounting up to over 100 billion ISK.
Massively contacted Xabier today, who stated that the value of assets taken from Dynasty Banking was 86 billion ISK, adding that the total value is now 106.2 billion ISK due to how it was invested. He also stressed to Massively that he’s used some of this ISK to repay his friends who invested with Dynasty Banking. We also spoke with Manalapan, the Chairman of Dynasty Banking, who placed the embezzled amount at 82.5 billion ISK. Manalapan has released a statement in hopes of quelling rumors related to the theft, which comes in the wake of two senior members of Dynasty Banking stepping down from their roles.
This whole thing is ridiculous! I’m not gonna lie that guy isn’t going to be safe in game any more. Get the full story and more details over at Massively.

It’s finally happened… Yahtzee’s accent has become even more outrageous. Seriously, it starts with the word “Zeh-bras” and it becomes down right weird by the end of it. Oh, and there’s a review in there, too.

CinciFrag is proud to sponsor a laser tag tournament of epic proportions at Laser Web in Fairfield! The tournament will take place on Saturday the 28th. Plan on arriving 10-11:30pm for check in and play will begin at 12 midnight.
Teams can range from 6 to 9 people and the cost will be $35 per player if you register and pay before February 13th. (Renting Laser Web out for the night is rather expensive and this is not an official Laser Web sponsored event. People are paying out of their pockets to rent the building.) If you don’t get your payment in by the 13th then expect to pay $40 before the event and $45 if you wait to pay at the door.
Rules are house Laser Web Rules with a few exceptions here and there. We will be using Dark Light Tournament Standard rules for the games and one homebrew game. You can find all Dark Light Rules on their website.
Medals and Trophies are definitely in the works Prizes and other prizes are still in the planning stages. As of now food will not be provided, but any extra entry money will be put forward towards food items. Feel free to bring your own. Also remember Laser Web has their own vending machines for drinks and snacks.
If you have any questions hit up Dave Rowe at daverowe11@yahoo.com . And you can also catch any of us at Laser Web regularly.

As the title suggests, World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King patch version 3.0.8 is in full throttle as of today offering so many features that actually posting them here might be a bit much and Josh would kill me. However, some noteable topics are the much needed buffs to Elemental Shaman, tragic nerf to Hunters AND (my personal favorite) the ability for all races to ride ANY mount they are able to get their grubby little hands on! My Draenei was happily riding her new Swift Green Mechanostrider before my raids tonight! (See the graphic!)
All other patch notes can always be found here.

Destructoid is the gaming site that’s like your drunk uncle that tells dirty jokes to little kids and make them cry. They’re the renegades in the gaming community, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t subject to security breaches. Upon logging on the computer today I find a nice little email in my inbox from Dtoid. Important: Your Destructoid Login Info Has Changed. Hmm…maybe it’s just an automated thing right? So I read the email and was rather surprised.
Dear Dtoiders,
Summary: a wily hacker got everyone’s usernames and passwords, so we
changed them all. Your new login information is at the end of this message. This is the letter every web site operator hopes he never has to write: it
seems a glitch in our web site allowed someone to exploit the database this
weekend. We have confirmed that the intruder succesfully obtained
everyone’s username and password. As soon as we were alerted we shut down all servers, changed all passwords,
took our forums offline, and notified everyone via email with your new
randomly generated password. We’re doing everything we can do prevent this
from ever happening again and deeply apologize for this incovenience. On the bright side, we intentionally store very little personally
identifiable information. However, you may still be at risk: If you
frequently use the same password for other web services such as Gmail, Xbox
Live, PSN, Facebook, MySpace, or any other web site we strongly urge you to
update your password ASAP. This is a good policy in general.Destructoid has reported the incident to IC3 (FBI’s internet crime complaint
arm) and are working through our log files to learn more information on the
incident. We are also offering a $1,000 award to anyone with information
that leads us to prosecuting the intruder. If you have any information
please contact us.Thanks,
Niero
Well I’ve been a member of Destructoid since I went to a huge party with them here in Cincinnati last summer and this is the first time anything like this has happened. I normally don’t use the same password for multiple sites, but having a different one for EVERY website on the internet will get hard to remember seeing as I’m a member of hundreds of gaming sites. So I went through all of the ones that shared the same password and changed them just in case. If you are a Dtoider then I suggest you do the same.

About a week ago, the King Pack for the Xbox LIVE Arcade Game Castle Crashers hit the Marketplace. In this pack comes the new characters of the King and ‘Open Faced Grey Knight’, as well as 3 new weapons and a new Animal Orb (remember the baby seal from the Ice World level?). Go and pick it up now for a mere 160 Microsoft Points.
