Overall I wasn’t too impressed with the game. It’s your run of the mill combat flight sim. The one cool thing that HAWX offers that is different from other flight sims is the experience system that lets you unlock more jets and weapons. I think that will generate alot of replay value unlike other games in the genera that just give you the jets and weapons after finishing the campaign. The graphics are mediocre and the gameplay is pretty much what you expect. Lock onto the enemy, fire missiles, enemy dies, lock onto new enemy, repeat. It gets rather boring.

I give it a 3/5. Ubisoft doesn’t butcher the combat flight sim genera, but they also don’t show any innovation.

If you know me you know that I am the biggest Halo fan on the face of the planet. Others may argue that there are others more obsessed than me, but meh what can you do? When I first heard about Halo Wars I didn’t know what to expect. I’m not the biggest RTS fan, but it’s Halo. Who could go wrong with Halo right? Not only that Ensemble, the developers of Age of Empires, is developing Halo Wars.

The Halo Wars demo dropped on the Xbox Live Market Place a few days ago and I finally got to try my hand at it. I do have to say that I wasn’t super impressed, but at the same time I was not disappointed. Check out my overview and video review and hit the jump for my written thoughts.

It’s been a few days since my last post and I apologize for that. I have been sick! =( I am back with some exciting news, though. The GameStop in Cincinnati Mills is having a Street Fighter IV Tournament at 2pm on Saturday, February 21st.

So, you are thinking “Bleh, a video game tournament at a mall.” Well, here’s the thing, sign up for it and win and you get a special SFIV headband! Not cool enough? How about entry into Round 2? Win that and proceed to Round 3. Win THAT and GameStop pays to send you to a national competition in California where you have a chance to win a Limited Edition Street Fighter IV Arcade Unit. According to GameStop, they are worth about $15,000.

If you can’t make the tournament but A) Still want a headband and B) still want a shot at one of the 10 (yes, there are only 10 in the United States) Arcade Units, stop into GameStop and drop $5 down on a Pre-Order of Street Fighter 4. You are automatically entered.

Sorry for the cheap GameStop plug! I hope to see everyone interested at the tournament!

Yahtzee goes back in time to when games were apparantly so good that he had nothing bad to say about them. Endso-facto, we get a brief review of the old PC game Thief which he has mentioned on a few other occasions.

zombiesahead

This is one of those times when you wished you lived somewhere else. Not California, not New York, not Florida…Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania. A Best Buy in Stroudsburg is hosting a huge Resident Evil 5 launch party full of awesomeness which includes a staged event with zombies, doctors/medical personnel, extras, and….the US Army?

US Army troops will take place in this staged event full with working guns that will be firing blanks. As you come through the store to pick up your game it will be set up like a disaster area with all of this chaos going on around you and at the end there’s supposed to be a “big scare.”

Drake Cambell, who helped come up with the event, said he went to the local recruiting station to borrow fatigues for some actors. “I asked for fatigues and they said why don’t we just show up,” he said. “So we upped the ante.”

There better be video!
