It’s scary what some mens priorities in this world are. I mean, we all have hobbies, most of us have addicting behaviors that just seem impossible to quit, but when it comes to one of our most common hobbies here: videogames, and comparing it to sex…I have a hard time choosing the first over the latter, at any point in time.
I really thought I was one of many, many in the world until this realization hit me a few weeks ago looking at a very popular website F*** My Life.
“Today, my boyfriend and I decided to have sex at his house. When we got there, he checked his mail box first and noticed that his Wii game arrived. He sent me home so he can play.”
When did video games take precedence over the biological imperative?
Now I love playing video games as much as the next guy or gal, but I wouldn’t miss a chance to enjoy [fill in whichever derivative you choose] with my girlfriend, rather than listen to a pre-pubescent screaming teenager cry about the headshot I just performed on him (even more likely, the same little child screaming how they headshoted me..).
It’s ridiculous.
After the jump, check out a few more examples from the site, and even a study done recently that actually supports what these poor women have suffered through..

You’ve heard it before, “Violent videogames are evil! They cause you to become more of a nuisance, they make you more aggressive, angry, and will end up killing others because of it.”
It’s laughable to most, but still a chance of plausibility as there has never been a study to entirely prove or disprove either one.
A new study by researchers from Huddersfield University, however, is calling this supposed link into question.
Info after the jump..

The picture above is of course the “what not to do” when playing videogames. Our mothers always told us to never sit so close to the tv, and even in the warnings for every game sold to you, there is a notice for having heavy lighting and keeping your distance (I know this only because of my recent “incident” with Mirrors Edge).
There is a bright spot however to all of these warnings.
Thanks to a new study done by Nature Neuroscience, games like the Call of Duty series, Counter-Strike, and Left 4 Dead provide excellent training for what eye doctors call “contrast sensitivity”, the ability to notice tiny changes in shades of gray against a uniform background. This is critical to everyday activities such as night driving and reading, and it will often degrade as you grow older.
Studies reveal a previously unsuspected adaptability in the brain, and could open the way to new therapies.

It’s Monday morning - a beautiful March day outside here in Minnesota where I take the laptop out here on my balcony with my mug of coffee three times the size of any normal serving should be.
Reading and skimming through the daily blogs, there were a few interesting reads including a new one from a great and opinionated writer, Thomas Cox, and his rant about being fed up with Nintendo. For some of you that occasionally love a good rant, I highly suggest reading it along with his later response.
But then, there are always those articles that make this coffee have just a little bit more of a bitter taste in my mouth, and this beautiful day is overcome with a chill that continually stands up the hairs on my back.
We all know there are “bad” people out there, we were all told by mom or dad or someone we looked up to as a child on how to avoid them, but now with more and more mediums to run into these people - sometimes even the best parents in the world can’t avoid misfortune for their children…

Just when I’m really starting to like British people, with their cool parents and all, why does it always have to be the government that’s going to turn me off? A UK Government Ad Campaign is taking it to the throats of all gamers, saying how “deadly” gaming can be.

It’s no secret that parents nowadays, for the most part, just plain suck. For all those that you hear about how kids playing videogames is worse than smoking crack, and that their youngin’s, that they refuse to spend time with or watch closely over, are being brainwashed by anything and everything that is on their computer and television screens, you know it as well as I do.
